- Voluntary and community sector (although not quite the same thing ‘VCS’ is increasingly used interchangeably with the term ‘Third Sector’ to refer to all non-statutory not-for-profit charitable, voluntary, community and non-governmental agencies)
- Vicarious liabilitysearch for term
- An employer’s legal responsibility for discrimination and harassment which occurs in the workplace or in connection with a person’s employment. The employer is legally responsible unless it can be shown that ‘reasonable steps’ have been made to reduce this liability.
- Victimisationsearch for term
- Subjecting a person to a detriment because they have done a protected act or there is a belief that they have done a protected act i.e. bringing proceedings under the Act; giving evidence or information in connection with proceedings under the Act; doing any other thing for the purposes or in connection with the Act; making an allegation that a person has contravened the Act, i.e. an individual is adversely treated because he or she has made a complaint of discrimination or harassment, or provided evidence in such a case.
