Beginning to plan support

The cohort of potential placements were brought together for the first time over lunch this week. They were given plenty of opportunity to chat and ask questions. This gave learners thier chance to decide if they wanted to accept a supported placement or not and it also gave insight into planning the ways support would be necessary once in the workplace setting. Information leaflets created, See attached, .

'All for One and One for All' project launches at Leicester College

All for One and One for All project launches at Leicester College!

The 'All for One and One for All' project is an exciting partnership between the St Philips Centre, Leicester and Leicester College, which is designed to intergrate issues of faith, belief and culture into specific curriculum areas. The overall outcome of the project is to enrich students with the knowledge and expertise they need to equip them to live and work confidently and successfully in diverse settings.

The project launched on the 9th of Decemeber with an interactive exhibition on forced marriage created by 'STRIVE'. The exhibition was one of two that will be held at the College. The exhibition hoped to challange and question learners knowledge and understanding of forced marriage and raise awareness of the issues.

On the 13th of Decemeber, Riaz Ravat (St Philips centre) began delivery of one of the six planned tutorials around faith and belief. This first session was delivered to learners aged 16-19 from Construction. Faith practioners from five different faiths worked with the group to discuss faith and answer any questions learners may have about religion and belief. The tutorial contextualised faith in relation to the construction industry and areas of employment.

Learners commented:

"You get to ask questions which you wouldnt know who to ask , especially in construction"

"Getting an opinion from people of different beliefs was interesting"

"I enjoyed asking questions to religious practioners"

Making Progress

We are slowly getting everything together.

The Yammer-based online steering group is proving invaluable for generating ideas.  The researcher is putting together some robust tools and I'm getting on with planning the training days, the first of which is fully subscribed.  The coaches meet on Friday and we're discussing jelly babies.  The only part of the complex weave I've not given thought to yet are the online materials, which I had in mind as being prompts for thinking, but a timely LinkedIn link from a colleague is giving me some great food for thought...

Hope everyone else is enjoying their project as much as we are!
